Ladysmith Renovation

Ladysmith Renovation was a large oceanfront home built in the late 1980s and still retained much of its original décor. This home renovation has been featured in YAM Magazine.

This home originally included dark blue carpets, dim lighting, yellowish stained wood trim, and gold-coloured light fixtures and door hardware. In order to bring light into this space, and reflect the coastal surroundings, a colour palette of white, blue, and white-washed wood was chosen.

Updating the dark floor-to-ceiling brick fireplaces in this home had one of the most dramatic influences on the space. The natural brick colour left this home feeling dark and gloomy. Painting the brick white was a bold choice that completely transformed this space to the light, airy oceanfront home it is now. Combined with new flooring, white walls, and new light fixtures, the homeowner of Ladysmith Renovation was handed a home that felt brand new!

Made to Last installed new hardwood throughout the home, new carpet in the bedrooms, and wainscoting in all the main living areas. We updated the lighting and installed new baseboards and trim, then painted all the walls and trim and whitewashed the ceiling boards. We also took out all the kitchen cabinets, stripping them down and lacquering them white, then re-installed them along with a new backsplash, countertops, and hardware to give the kitchen a completely new look and feel.

By the end of the Ladysmith Renovation, the house had undergone a complete transformation, from a dark outdated space into a bright and beautiful home.
